Volunteers needed at Oneida County ARDC dining sites

FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

ONEIDA COUNTY – Adults of any age are needed to volunteer at the ADRC of Oneida County Rhinelander Senior Dining Site and Woodruff Senior Dining Site at Holy Family Catholic Church. Volunteers are critical to operating the Meals on Wheels and on-site senior dining at the ADRC of Oneida County Senior Dining Sites.

Volunteers at the Dining Site work with the Site Manager to package the Meals on Wheels, serve the congregate meal and then help clear and clean-up. The primary times volunteers are needed are from approximately 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Rhinelander Dining Site is in need of a dishwasher.

Volunteers are also needed to deliver Meals on Wheels using their own vehicle and are paid round-trip from the Dining Site at 57.5 cents a mile. Routes generally take between one to two hours, depending on the number of households. Volunteers can work one or more days per week.

Volunteer Escort driving is another volunteer opportunity. This program helps people over 60 and disabled adults over 18 who cannot drive get to medical appointments or to obtain groceries. The only requirements are a dependable, insured vehicle and a good driving record. Drivers are also paid 57.5 cents per mile from their residence roundtrip.

To volunteer, or for more information on these programs, contact at the ADRC of Oneida County between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 715-369-6170 or 1-800-379-7499.
