TORCH RUN MAKES STOP IN ERV’S ON WAY TO EAGLE RIVER

Two of northern Wisconsin’s biggest winter events were united in a torch run that took place Jan. 16-17 from Wausau to Eagle River that featured several stops along the way including one in Tomahawk at Erv’s Sale and Service. Starting in Wausau where the Wisconsin Badger Winter State Games are being held, the torch run involving 14 area snowmobile clubs made its way through four communities to where the World Championship Snowmobile Derby was held over the weekend, which this year included the youth portion of the Winter State Games as the Wausau 525 track was in the process of being upgraded. Rep. Mary Felzkowski took part in riding the torch into Tomahawk and the snowmobile enthusiast said she much prefers the colder temps for riding that were experienced on the day it passed through town. Northwoods Passage and the Night Owls Snowmobile Club were among area snowmobile clubs that helped take the torch to the start of the World Championships.
