Hatchet cross country excels in classroom as well as in field

FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

This past weekend the Wisconsin Cross-Country Coaches Association hosted their annual Awards banquet in conjunction with their clinic in Milwaukee. On Friday night during the awards ceremony, the All-State Academic Teams were honored. To achieve All-State Academic honors individuals must exceed a 3.5 cumulative GPA and teams must meet the 3.4 GPA standard.

From Tomahawk, making the All-State Academic squad as an individual was junior Noah Buckwalter. Also, honored were the lady Hatchet state qualifiers as individuals, as well as meeting the team standard. In fact, Tomahawk was tied for 2nd highest GPA in the state of the 14 Division 2 squads that received awards with their school record 3.98 cumulative GPA average. Members of that group were included seniors Haley Voermans-Dean, Meagan Berg, sophomores Emily Lacina, Macey Mann, Kate Reilly and freshmen Greta Tjugum and Serena Reinke.
