A large crowd was on hand as long lines lined the downtown for the much anticipated start of the Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce 54th annual Venison Feed and opening day of the nine-day gun deer season. Joining the hunters, the Tomahawk community gathered for camaraderie and good times before hitting the woods and local shops for Widow Weekend. Pictured above, chamber volunteers Andy Hein and Pete Wurl man one of the grills used to serve up well over 1,000 free venison burgers as part of the event. Grills were sponsored by WJJQ, Tomahawk BP and Shell, city of Tomahawk, Tomahawk Ace Hardware, Park City Credit Union, Tomahawk Surplus and Gun. Other sponsors inclluded Geiss Meat Service, Incredible Bank, Wisconsin Public Service, Trig’s, Merrill Distributing, Great Lakes Foods, DuWayne Kreager Insurance and Northwoods Community Realty.
