As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Nov. 18:

A Merrill man, 23, was arrested Tuesday morning on a bail jumping charge. He arrested for violating the terms of a bond which required him to stay sober after he was previously arrested for a third offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

A Merrill woman, 41, was cited Wednesday evening for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. A preliminary breath test showed the woman was over four times the legal limit to operate.

Another Tomahawk resident has fallen for a scam. The woman said the person who called told her that her granddaughter was in a car accident and needed $4,000 in Home Depot gift cards. She stated the caller was so convincing she went to Home Depot and purchased $4,000 worth of gift cards. The investigation into the matter continues, but is likely the woman will not get her money back.

A Stratford woman, 30, was cited Thursday evening for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated just after 11 p.m. The woman showed signs of being impaired and was cited for a first offense of OWI and a fifth offense of driving on a revoked license.

A Tomahawk woman, 46, was cited early Sunday morning for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.

The Recreation Deputy wants to pass along some reminders in advance of the nine-day gun deer hunting season. The most common complaint the Rec. Deputy investigates involves hunters on county land. The use of off-road vehicles is restricted, yet the Rec. Deputy often finds hunters traveling beyond the boundaries to get to their stands. The use of permanent stands is prohibited on county land, as are stands which cause damage when they are attached to a tree, or hunters who use spikes nailed into trees. The Rec. Deputy will be patrolling throughout the nine-day hunt. The Rec. Deputy also reminds you that you cannot collect or cut firewood or pine boughs on county lands without a permit.

Sheriff Schneider reminds you make sure you have fresh batteries for your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors before heading out to the cabin for hunting.

The number of deer crashes has increased significantly with 18 being reported last week. Tomahawk EMS struck a deer while responding to a call Sunday evening. The ambulance did not sustain any damage and continued to the emergency call they were responding to. Paramedics credit the deer guard on their ambulance for preventing damage.
