After a pretty impressive fall sports season that saw multiple athletes and teams advance to the WIAA State Championships, a number of Hatchet athletes were named to All Conference teams.

As would be expected after qualifying and finishing in 9th place as a team at the WIAA D2 State Championship, the Lady Hatchet cross country was well represented on the Great Northern Conference All Conference team. Haley Voermans-Dean and Kate Reilly earned 1st Team honors and Emily Lacina and Macey Mann were named to the 2nd Team.

Noah Buckwalter also finished off a fantastic season representing the boys’ cross country team at state. Drew Bolder joined him in earning 1st Team All Conference honors and Garron Albrent earned 2nd Team honors.

The fantastic finish by the Hatchet co-ed cross country team led to Tomahawk head coach John Zuelsdorf being named the Coach of Year in the GNC.

The Lady Hatchet swimmers also qualified a pair to compete the WIAA State Championship this Friday, Nov. 15. Kylee Theiler was named to the 1st Team and will compete in the 100-yard freestyle as well as the 200 free at the UW-Madison Natatorium (diver Karli Woodall also qualified and will join Theiler competing in Madison).  Molly Mott  also earned Honorable Mention All Conference for her performance in the 50 free at the GNC Championship.

Hatchet volleyball had four players named to the GNC All Conference team to go along with an opening round playoff win over Medford. Spiker Mady Hanse was named 1st Team, Natalie Zastrow 2nd Team and Richelle Swan and freshman Meghan Scholz were named Honorable Mention.

The Hatchet football season will be remembered for an entertaining Homecoming win over Rib Lake/Prentice. Tyler Beck was named 2nd Team for his play on the offensive line and Logan Bishop earned 3rd Team honors for his play in the back field.

Other grid iron honors went to Tony “The Legend” Matti as he was named 2nd Team as defensive lineman and Honorable Mention for the offensive line. Kade Wenninger was named 2nd Team for linebacker and Honorable Mention for tight end. Also getting Honorable Mention honors for Tomahawk were Austin Snow on defense and Cody Jablonski on offense.
