Salvation Army seeking volunteer bell ringers

FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

TOMAHAWK – The Salvation Army of Tomahawk has announced Andy and Jamie Hein as Honorary Co-Chairs for the 2019 Red Kettle Campaign. Andy is the outgoing President of the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce and is employed by Foley’s Tree Service. Jamie is a psychologist with Ascension.

The Heins will assist the Salvation Army bell ringing volunteers in kicking off the bell ringing campaign on Friday, Nov. 15. The Salvation Army board has set a goal of $52,000, which will fund emergency assistance for those in need, along with supplementing the budget of the Happy Kids Backpack program. Last year’s efforts raised a little over $50,000.

“With 86% of that amount staying in the Tomahawk area to assist its neediest residents, it makes the fundraising effort so worthwhile for this community,” Andy stated.

Dennis Mannering, co-coordinator of the Red Kettle marketing efforts, encourages those who wish to volunteer to ring to call 715-966-1500. Helen Hoover will assist those interested in scheduling a time that works for them. Those interested in volunteering can also visit RegistertoRing.com and follow the prompts.

“Without our volunteer ringers from churches, school organizations, businesses, business organizations and individual volunteers, we would not be able to reach our goal,” said Wendy Mannering, co-coordinator with Dennis.

“We have an amazing, generous community!” observed Jamie.

Those who can’t volunteer to ring but would like to contribute to the Salvation Army’s efforts can send donations to Salvation Army of Tomahawk, 108 E. Somo Ave., Tomahawk, WI 54487.

“Thank you to all who have assisted or donated in the past! We need you again this year,” stated Dennis and Wendy Mannering.
