FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) will be holding flu clinics the Tomahawk School District and Merrill Area Public Schools. Children from private schools will be able to receive their flu shot at Lincoln County Health Department.

These clinics provide the flu shot at no charge for students attending schools in Lincoln County, while supplies last, with funding from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this service at no charge for all students this school year,” states Shelley Hersil, Health Officer/Director for Lincoln County Health Department. “Being able to save parents time and help keep kids healthy is a benefit for all,” she adds.

Below are scheduled school flu clinics:

Tomahawk School District (High, Middle and Elementary Schools; St. Mary’s students invited): Thursday, Oct. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Merrill Area Public Schools: Jefferson Elementary School, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Washington Elementary School, Tuesday, Oct. 29, 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Maple Grove Elementary School, Friday, Nov. 1, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Kate Goodrich Elementary School, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Merrill High School, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Prairie River Middle School, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Private schools: Walk In Wednesday Clinics at the Lincoln County Health Department, 607 N. Sales St., Merrill, every Wednesday through Nov. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Please note: this schedule is dependent on flu vaccine availability. Any changes in the schedule will be communicated to parent(s)/guardian(s).

The school based flu clinics are no charge, voluntary, during regular school hours and parent(s)/guardian(s) need not be present. However, students must have returned a completed and signed consent form to their school.

Letters and consent forms were mailed to Tomahawk High School and Tomahawk Middle School students’ parent(s)/guardian(s) and forms were stuffed in Tomahawk Elementary School students’ backpacks.

Flu shot consent forms were made available to MAPS students through Skyward and completed electronically during the school registration process.

If parent(s)/guardian(s) did not receive the consent form or have questions on shots their child(ren) may need, contact the Lincoln County Health Department at 715-536-0307 or email [email protected].
