It certainly wasn’t from a lack of effort, as the Lady Hatchets set 10 new personal records in falling to Trident by the thinnest of margins 89-91 in a GNC match held at Ladysmith Thursday.

Karli Woodall set a new school record with 11 dives scoring 332.60 points to notch the win. It was one of three pool records the Hatchets set on the night, as speedster Kylee Theiler set the high water mark in the 50-yard free in 25.13 to win the race and also broke the record in the 100 free with a blistering time of 53.66.

One of eight other Lady Hatchets to improve on their times in Ladysmith, Megan Miles scored a 1st place finish in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:08.30 and was followed to the finish line by Juliana Skubal as she finished in 2nd place. Taya Johnson also got on the scoreboard with a 5th place finish to make it a big scoring event for the Hatchets.

The Hatchets other top finish came in the final event of the evening as Molly Mott, Joanna Phillips, Dallas Dosch and K. Theiler took the top spot in the 400 free relay in a time of 4:04.97. The second team of J. Skubal, M. Miles, T. Johnson and Annie Begotka swam their tails off to secure the 3rd place spot to score an additional two points but it wasn’t quite enough as Trident went on to get the two-point win.

Other Hatchet swimmers setting new personal records at Ladysmith were Savanah Ristau, Megan Miles, Abby Jaecks and Brynnen Stefan.

Additional Lady Hatchets scoring against Trident were: 200 Medley relay – M. Miles, D. Dosch, S. Ristau, T. Johnson, 2nd, 2:13.19; 200 free – Ally Carstensen, 2nd, 2:31.90; A.
