Volunteers from the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will be at the Grow North EcoVillage in Rhinelander from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, to provide assistance to those who want to register to vote. The Wisconsin Riders of Tomahawk will hold their first annual Original Fall Ride Benefit Party at Twin Bay Resort, 2173 County Rd. L, Tomahawk, from 1 p.m. to bar close on Saturday, Oct. 12. Kinship of Tomahawk will host its 20th annual Kids Unlimited Fundraising Banquet Saturday, Oct. 19, at Inshalla Country Club in Tomahawk. Free flu shots are being offered for those who qualify. St. Vincent de Paul Free Clinic in Merrill has partnered with Americares and Walgreens to present the Americares Walgreens Fall 2019 Flu Vaccination Program. Those who receive the vaccines must fit Americares’ general eligibility criteria, which are either uninsured or underinsured and fall at or below 300% of the federal poverty level. Flu injections will be done at St. Vincent de Paul Free Clinic, 1004 E. Main St., Merrill, on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sign up for a time slot by either calling or visiting any of the following places: SVDP Free Clinic on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; SVDP Outreach Center, 503 S. Center Ave., Merrill; or the SVDP Thrift Store, 1004 E. Tomahawk Public Library’s “Play and Learn” program is now called “Library Time.” Library Time is an opportunity for children to develop friendships and early literacy skills through talking, singing, reading, writing and playing. This play based program is for young children and those who take care of them. Library Time will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday from September through May.


Eagle Summit Healing Center, W5676 Water View Lane, off of County Road A, north of Tomahawk, invites the public to attend free and confidential Community Healing Rooms to receive prayer for healing. Open Arms Community Soup Kitchen is open Tuesdays, welcoming any hungry souls as well as those who want to socialize between 5 and 6:30 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Center adjacent to St. Mary’s Church.
