From a fun parade to playing under the lights Friday night, the Tomahawk School District and community alike will have plenty of opportunity to take part in 2019 Homecoming.

Students and staff at school have been celebrating homecoming all week, as Monday students took part in class color crusades and a boys’ volleyball tourney was held at Hatchet Fieldhouse. Tuesday featured “tourist Tuesday” dress up and students began voting for king and queen and decorating floats for the parade.

Today (Wednesday) concluded voting for homecoming court, featured “battle of the ages” dress up and tonight a girls’ flag football game is being played at Hatchet Field starting at 6:30 p.m.

Another big day of events takes place tomorrow (Thursday), as students dress up as “superheroes” and the Hatchet girls’ swim team hosts Medford for a Great Northern Conference showdown at Hatchet Pool starting at 5:30 p.m. Tomahawk volleyball also hosts Athens, Prentice and Rhinelander for a quad at Hatchet Fieldhouse that begins at 5 p.m.

This Friday, Sept. 27 marks Hatchet Pride Day as students and Hatchet fans alike are encouraged to wear the Blue and Gold colors. The Homecoming Parade is slated to begin at 1:45 p.m. and conclude with the pep rally in the high school gym where you can bet things will get loud as grades compete for points. After running the game ball in from the direction of their opponents, captains of Tomahawk co-ed cross country will present the game ball to the captains of the Hatchet football team for the start of the homecoming game against Rib Lake/Prentice. Kickoff Friday is at 7 p.m.

The week of fun and Hatchet Pride concludes Saturday with the Homecoming Dance sponsored by the senior class.
