Motorcyclist killed in Oneida County hit-and-run

TOWN OF SUGAR CAMP – One person is dead following a hit-and-run involving a motorcycle in Oneida County last week.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office stated a 911 call was received at about 10:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28 reporting a motorcycle in the middle of Highway 17 north. The caller reported the operator was not breathing.

The operator, Sean Holtslander, 23, of St. Germain, was found to be deceased upon arrival of emergency personnel.

Though the investigation is ongoing, Jeffrey Liebscher, 53, of Sugar Camp, has been arrested for hit and run causing death and homicide by negligent use of a vehicle.

Oneida County deputies, along with the Oneida County Ambulance, Wisconsin Highway Patrol, Rhinelander Police Department, Three Lakes Police Department and the Sugar Camp Fire Department responded to the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office will complete the accident report, and a reconstruction of the incident will be completed by the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The accident is still under investigation.
