FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

MINOCQUA – The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will be partnering with the Northwoods Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) in a joint September meeting to discuss the current issues of Public School Financing. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Minocqua Public Library, 415 Menominee Street, Minocqua.

Dr. John Sample, Superintendent of Schools, and Brian Dasher, Finance Director, both of Merrill Area Public Schools, will be presenting.

Dr. Sample and Mr. Dasher will provide insight as to how the $40 million budget of the Merrill Area Public Schools is managed. Included in the topics of discussion will be how schools are financed, where the money goes and why different schools get different amounts to educate each child. They will also discuss the effects vouchers have had on public schools, answer questions and respond to concerns.

This meeting promises to be very interesting and enlightening and is open to the public, the LWVNOW states.
