Jim Thorell, age 77, of Stevens Point, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Stevens Point under hospice care.
Jim was born on September 22, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Ivan & Margaret (Joabson) Thorell. Jim was married to Jean Jones in Irma on December 3, 1966. He served in the US Army for 3 years. Jim was a motorcycle and car mechanic, having worked for Courtesy Motors for 45 years before retiring in 2011. Jim enjoyed his time spent at their cabin in Tomahawk where he would go four-wheeling with family and enjoyed watching the deer. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. Jim loved playing cribbage and especially cherished his time spent with his grandson – Quinn.
Jim is survived by his wife – Jean Thorell of Stevens Point; his two daughters – Jill (Derek) Swanson of Hewitt & Jacki Jones of Junction City; brother – Marvin (Vonda) Thorell of Racine; and sister – Margaret (Robert) Effertz of Winona, MN. He is further survived by his grandson – Quinn. He is preceded in death by his parents & his brother – Ray.
The Funeral Service for Jim Thorell will take place at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Clay Schmit will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:30AM until the time of service at 11:00AM. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tomahawk, immediately following the service.
