Illinois man suffers serious injuries in Lake Nokomis jet ski accident

TOWN OF BRADLEY – A Bartlett, Ill., man, 26, was seriously injured in a jet ski accident on Lake Nokomis Friday, Aug. 2.

A news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department stated a 911 call was received around 1 p.m. reporting the crash, and that the victim was being brought to shore at the Nokomis Drive boat landing in the Town of Bradley. According to the investigating deputy, the operator of the jet ski collided with a second jet ski after losing control in the wake of a boat. The victim was found floating face down in the water after the crash.

Witnesses were able to remove the victim from the water and bring him to shore, where paramedics treated him before he was brought to a nearby landing zone established by the Tomahawk and Nokomis fire departments. The victim was flown by Spirit 2-Air Medical to the trauma center at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Lincoln County Recreational Deputy are investigating the incident. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
