Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: April 15, 2024

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, April 15:

On 04/09/2024 deputies were dispatched to the area of French Ridge Rd. just north of STH 64 for a vehicle in the ditch. The R/P indicated that the driver of the vehicle appeared to be intoxicated. Upon arrival on scene, the deputies located and spoke with the driver a Milwaukee man, 38. During their contact, the deputy reported that the male was showing signs of impairment and as a result was placed through a series of sobriety tests. As a result of those tests, the subject was placed under arrest for fourth offense OWI, felony bail jumping and possession of cocaine. The subject was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail and turned over to corrections officers.

On 04/10/2024 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on Riverside Ave. and Misty Ln. in the City of Merrill for unregistered motor vehicle and displaying false registration. Once stopped, the deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle, a Merrill man, 42. While conducting the stop, the deputy learned that the male subject had a warrant for his arrest through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The subject was arrested on that warrant and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

On 04/12/2024 deputies were dispatched to an address on Hillside Dr. in the Town of Wilson for a domestic disturbance that had occurred the night before where a gun was involved. Deputies learned that a Tomahawk man, 68, and his son, 43, also from Tomahawk, were involved in a fight over personal property. During the fight, the older male pulled a gun on his son, pointing it at him threatening to kill him. Following the argument, the son left the house, leaving the suspect and the suspect’s wife home alone. The suspect’s wife reported to deputies that she was fearful for her safety and wanted the father removed from the house. The father was arrested for two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of intentionally pointing a firearm at a person. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections officers. No injuries were reported.

On 04/14/2024 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle for expired registration on Tree Ln. and CTH Q in the Town of Scott. When stopped, the driver provided the deputy with his brother’s information. Noting inconsistencies in the driver’s story, the driver a Madison man, 40, admitted to the deputy that he had used his brother’s information. The driver was then placed under arrest for obstructing an officer, as well as operating after revocation and failure to install an ignition interlock device. The subject was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and turned over to corrections officers.

On 04/14/2024 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on USH 8 near CTH CC in the Town of Wilson for an equipment violation. Upon making contact with the driver, a man, 53, from Minneapolis, Minn., the deputy detected the distinct odor of marijuana from the vehicle. The deputy continued his investigation, suspecting the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. As a result, the deputy asked the driver to perform some sobriety tests, which the driver refused to do, stating he had medical problems that would prevent him from doing so. As a result, the deputy placed the driver under arrest for first offense OWI and possession of marijuana. The passenger, a man, 25, also from Minneapolis, was also placed under arrest for possession of marijuana. Both parties were transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where they were turned over to corrections officers.

Deputies conducted 82 traffic stops and 32 security checks.

Deputies responded to one domestic, two car vs. deer crashes, one car vs. porcupine and two car vs. turkey.

The 911 Center took three hang-up calls and two nuisance calls.
